Mission Trips - Our 6th Trip to Belize
May, 2014
Trip Report
Belize 2014 taught us that we cannot out plan God!
We had busily collected 2,000 children's books, boxes of teaching supplies, linens for an orphanage, and 460 jars of donated peanut butter to distribute. A mission minded local produce company had agreed to ship our cargo to Mexico on one of their empty cargo bins. From there they would haul it via a semi to our base camp in Belize. The peanut butter was delivered late to the packing shed and missed the shipment. The man handling this part of the mission was filled with discouragement and helplessness. He prayed all week asking God to help him. God spoke to him on Thursday night and told him to put the peanut butter in his local produce store and sell it and give the money back to SHA Missions. So he did; not one jar sold on Friday. Then God's plan fell into place. Early Saturday morning a lady who works at a food bank in a neighboring county came in and bought the entire pallet of peanut butter! She had been looking all week for a source of protein to put in food boxes that they distribute in their county. We were able to take the money and not only buy enough peanut butter in Belize to distribute but also to provide additional needed supplies. We are absolutely convinced that God's hand was in this as the shipment of supplies did not make it to us while we were there. The peanut butter would have spoiled if it had been on the shipment. Once again God revealed to us that "All things work together for the good of those who are called accordingly."
The trip was fruitful and meaningful. We distributed food, hygiene items, eye glasses, Bibles, and flip flops. We gave the children at a local orphanage t-shirts and spent some time with them. Much of our time was spent in More Tomorrow, teaching language arts lessons to the 41 students, repairing swings for the children, painting a mural on an outside wall of the school, washing and painting, and of course, learning to Share ourselves.

A new ministry was added this trip - sharing Jesus' love door to door. In the evening we held a worship service in three different villages. This ministry was exciting as numerous people asked Jesus into their lives. It also helped us make even more connections with God's people.
On Wednesday, we were the recipients of God's blessings. Several of our youth shared their testimony and I shared Sha's story and the purpose of SHA Missions. After we shared, Nicole C. Mullen, a contemporary artist whose songs include "My Redeemer Lives" and "Call on Jesus" gave her testimony and performed for the students of Belmopan Baptist High School. This young lady has a wonderful heart filled with the power of Jesus.
The week ended all too soon, but each of us left with a new love for Christ and His kingdom and a desire to Share Hope Around wherever we are!
